Bayern Optimistic About Kane Prospects as Large Party Travels to the Ballon d’Or

Harry Kane is widely tipped as the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or, which will be awarded in London on Monday, and Bayern Munich are travelling in force to back him. Many experts consider the Bayern striker the best player of the 2025–26 season, although Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal are also among the leading contenders.

In recent weeks and months, Kane has received support not only from various officials at Bayern but also from his teammates at club and international level. Numerous experts in Germany and abroad share the view that he deserves the honour. Until the ceremony gets under way, however, it remains uncertain whether the Englishman will take the trophy home. No Bayern player has won the award since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claimed it.

Bayern Send a Large Delegation to London

Bayern are travelling to London without sporting director Max Eberl, who has come down with a cold. Even so, the club is sending a substantial group. According to a report in the Spanish newspaper Marca, the record champions are very confident that Kane will win.

CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and President Herbert Hainer are part of the Bayern contingent that has set off for London. Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise, Lennart Karl, Pernille Harder and Klara Bühl, all of whom are also nominated in various categories, are travelling with the squad.

Kane’s biggest rivals, Yamal and Mbappé, will also attend the ceremony. The event begins at 7 p.m. and DAZN will broadcast it live.

Why a Kane Victory Matters

A Ballon d’Or win for Kane would send an important message. It would be Bayern’s first title of this kind since 1981. It would also confirm that the award for the world’s best player can be won in the Bundesliga, which would bring more international attention and prestige to the league and carry real symbolic significance for the German club.
